Four Outdoor Games Kids Can Play
In this day and age, it seems that children are equipped with some of the coolest and innovative toys ever invented. They are more computer-savvy, have portable gaming systems, and all sorts of toys that keep them busy when they need to. But this is not a healthy way to raise a child.
One factor that is taken away is the child's need to socialize with other kids. One way to do this is to introduce children to an environment that involves other children and some games to keep it fun, like in the park or even in the garden. Here are a few games that you can come up with for children and their friends.
• Hide & Seek – Nothing beats other games like a classic that has survived through the ages. Hide and seek is one game that remains immortal in many people's minds. Of course, it might not be played as much these days and this should be changed. Hide and seek is a fun game, doesn't need any equipment to be played, and it also helps to develop the imagination of a child. A child can come up with inventive ways of hiding from his or her friends. As a seeker, he can explore all sorts of places in the garden or park while discovering all sorts of things.
• Tag – Another game that children can play that will help develop their minds as well as their bodies is tag. Children chasing each other around are always something fun to watch, and for children themselves it's quite the activity that's packed with action. Again, it doesn't need too much skill or equipment. All a child needs to know is how to tag his or her friend and run away to avoid becoming the tagger.
• Follow The Leader – Need a game that is not so physical and doesn't involve children potentially going missing? Then try out this game. All it involves is picking out a leader in a group of children. All the followers of the group then follow the leader around while chanting and singing as they go along wherever the leader goes. The leader can go anywhere he or she wants and all his followers must do exactly what the leader does or go wherever he or she goes. This is a fun activity and children can take turns being the leader.
• Red Light & Green Light – Much like traffic enforcement, one child can lead others from a starting line to a planned finish area just by guiding them with “lights.” If the child wants them to stop moving, all he or she has to say is “red light.” Anybody caught moving at this time will be sent right back to the starting line. Saying “yellow light” is an order for all children to walk. Anybody not moving or running will be sent back to the starting line. A “green light” order can have children running towards the finish line and the first one across the line where the leader is will become the next appointed leader.
