Three Ways To Encourage Your Kid To Play With Educational Toys

If your child has played with too many toys that don't really offer any intellectual value to him, there might be a really big chance that when you buy him a new kind of toy - an educational one, he might not accept it with arms wide open. Neither will he wait for it with any hype or anticipation.

Such is the challenge that some toys face against their counterparts that offer quick entertainment, without any need to use any brainpower. Now that's an uphill battle parents have to face. Because if children don't see the need to play with such toys, they're almost definitely going to set them aside until they're completely forgotten. You don't want that to happen don't you when you buy children expensive educational toys and they won't even give it a chance right?

1. Encourage your kid by showing to him educational toys can also be fun.

It is most likely that your child's role model during his younger years would be nobody else except you, the parent. After all, when you are his role model, he's certainly going to mimic or emulate your behavior for quite a while. When you still have the opening to take advantage of your child idolizing you, you should take the time to show to your child how much fun educational toys could be. Once you're able to get him to play with educational toys, he's sooner or later going to be hooked on them and will eventually have fun with them without any encouragement from you or anybody else. He's eventually going to realize that there's nothing wrong with playing with educational toys and all.

2. Reward him if he's able to solve some puzzles and other games of that like.

As you may know, jigsaw puzzles and other sorts of puzzles are also quite educational. And some of these are actually quite difficult since you've got to figure out a lot of stuff at first. Offering your child a reward upon completing a certain puzzle would sound like a good idea. Rewards like money, ice cream, or his favorite meal should suffice. Just make sure however that he shouldn't be taking advantage of such rewards. A little motivation here and there would work wonders for your child. And you'll be amazed at how good your kid is going to get at solving puzzles.

3. Find ways to let your kid's friends to play with educational toys as well.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do as well. When your kid's friends start playing with educational toys, your child is definitely going to get on the educational train. Such is the power of peer pressure. For once, this thing should work to your advantage as to when you would like them to clean up their act and start playing with educational toys. The bottom line is that if your kid's friends are a good influence, some of that good attitude is going to rub off on your child as well.
