Three Most Popular Make Believe Games

It is amazing to see how children play. A child often seems content playing on their own surrounded by their toys. Perhaps, we can even see them saying something to a make believe friend that is quite invisible to the adult eye; which is not a surprise as children usually have vivid and sometimes wild imaginations.

A game of make believe is a typical type of play for a lot of children, especially girls. It is said that what children portray is an imitation of life; a picture of what they see their parents, other family members, friends of the family or even acquaintances do in their very tender age. Child experts opine that these make believe games are often a first glimpse of a child's ambition in life; the person he wants to be when he grows up. Anyhow, here are some of the most popular make believe games that children play.

* Playing mom. For little girls, there is no better role model than mom. And so when they take care of their dolls, they do as much to emulate and try to be a good mom to it. Through the play they do almost all the things that their wonderful mothers have done to them, of which they think are what motherhood should be about. They give it a bath, wash their hair, towel it dry and of course, let us not forget to brush and groom that fine mane. Then they feed it with make believe food and drinks. It is funny to note that in some cases during the course of the meal, the doll gets a scolding for not wanting to eat some more; just like what mom would have done so.

* Playing doctor and playing nurse. Conceivably the next person whose work children find intriguing are the doctors and the nurses that they see, meet and greet when they go to the clinic to get those immunizations on quite a regular basis. Children find it curious enough to want to imitate the work of a physician. Accordingly they go about their play, examining the patient doll, checking its eyes, ears and mouth; asking it to say “aaah” and open the mouth wide. Then going about their business with the stethoscope to check the lungs and the breathing, as if dolls even breathe. And for the big finish, there is typically the time for injections, a part where the doll is supposed to squirm while the doctor patiently tells her that everything will be just fine.

* Playing the tough soldier. For most boys there is no other mightier profession than being a soldier. These boys may not be able to see a soldier face to face but they usually get a lot of their background and research from those movies and shows on television. Armed with their toy guns, little boys often go out and play in teams. Crawling on all fours on their way to attack the other teams, these boys do what they can to make fighting strategies to make their camp the winning team.
