Why Buying Your Child A Rubik's Cube Would Be A Good Idea
You have seen people fiddle around with it; maybe you've even tried solving it yourself. This little three-dimensional wonder of a puzzle has intrigued tens and thousands of people across the world in the pursuit of trying to solve this entertaining little 3x3 cube. So why should you buy your son something as complex as that?
Well there are a lot of reasons of course. And as farfetched as a rubik's cube as a toy for your son or daughter may be, it would actually do you and your child a lot of good. For one, if you have not tried solving it (the rubik's cube that is), you can give it a shot before you let your kid have a shot at it.
1. It will help improve your child's analytical thinking.
It's funny how such a tiny little puzzle can allow you to find a side of yourself that you would've never thought you had in you. It takes a lot of imagination to get past the first side you solve and a heck of a lot more to align the second layer, the third layer and the top surface. It's not an easy thing to do that is solving the rubik's cube but it can be solved nonetheless. Your child doesn't need to have an IQ score of a savant to solve the rubik's cube. All he needs is to have a good imagination and of course his loving parents to guide him all the way to solving it until he can do it himself.
2. It'll allow him to have something to work on aside from video games and television.
If your child spends too much time on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare or World of Warcraft, it's about time for you to do a little intervention. Make sure he doesn't develop something else like his analysis and critical thinking aside from an enhanced hand-eye coordination from all that hours spent in front of the TV screen or the computer monitor. Life isn't just about the latest Armor set or the highest available ranking -it's so much more. And perhaps even by just a puzzle as small as the rubik's cube it might allow him to have a little bit more insight on what life really is about.
3. It'll help him think better.
Solving that puzzle takes a lot of work, but once you get the hang of solving the rubik's cube it should be pretty easy. The world record for solving a disarranged rubik's cube is about 7.08 seconds. Quite an amazing feat right? Your son might be the next person to do something as amazing as that. But what people fail to see is that there is more to the rubik's cube than just the six-sided surface subdivided into 3x3 segments. It's part of a bigger thing that you get to develop a bit better once you become adept at solving a puzzle like that – your intelligence.
