Which Toys Should You Buy Your Kids These Days?
With all the violence, sex and drugs out on movies and television these days, it's a little bit hard to choose which toys are appropriate for your children. Although the ESRB and other organizations try to limit the spread of products that involve such forms of violence, these different kinds of material still reaches kids that might still be too young to be exposed to such things.
If you have a four year old at home playing Grand Theft Auto 4, chances are the excessive amount of violence found in this game would be too much for a child of his age to handle. As responsible parents, it is our duty to limit such things from reaching our children.
First of all, it is of great importance that we do so, so that our children wouldn't grow up to be like what the rest of the world is promoting. What movies and television promote right now is that engaging in casual sex, drugs, alcohol and whatever else it is that's the latest “fad” is good. And that being a goody-two-shoes is a thing of the past; in a time where manners and courtesy was what used to be the “in” thing. So which toys do you think is appropriate for your children?
1. Video game consoles
Some of us grew up during a time where Tetris, Mrs. Pac man and Donkey Kong ruled the arcades and even the living room. These days are perhaps the most exciting time for one to be a teenager who is interested in video games and computers. Such video game console manufacturers like Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft have stepped up to the plate and have provided us with awesome new consoles that will literally make our jaws drop with the greatly enhanced graphics and game play. It's perhaps a whole new experience, even to those who were able to reach the introduction of the Sega Saturn and PlaystationX.
For your child of course, all three major consoles are definitely alright for your kids to have. Just be careful of the games that you buy for them. Before you take out your credit card and actually buy the game, try it out for a few minutes. Take a look at the cover and see what the ESRB rating is for that game. You wouldn't want to have a 7 year-old to be playing a video game having an 18+ rating. Some languages and violent scenes in that game might just be too much for your kid to handle.
2. Board games
Board games are a whole lot of fun for the family. That's right mom and dad, when you have a board game like monopoly, you too can get in on the action of becoming the next real estate king with boardwalk and park place as your crown jewels. The best part of it is that even more than 5 players can play these at one single time. So the next time you and your whole family's at home, spend a little time with your kids. Get to know them a whole lot better. Get to know what makes them tick.
