Top Two Toys For Your Toddlers

Your baby has now grown into a fine one year old. From being a tiny little bundle of joy who constantly needs to be carried around, to a months old infant who can grasp, crawl and roll over to an active toddler. Your little angel now enjoys more dynamic activities like walking, running, climbing, jumping and what have you. Yes, time does go by so fast when it comes to little children growing up.

As kids grow, parents do not only let go of incessant hugging their little tikes and being too protective. Moms and dads also need to let go and replace clothes, shoes, cribs and of course, play things into bigger, better and more age appropriate things.

Toddlers may not have much say when it comes to their clothes. Whether it is plain, pleated or in polka dots, they basically do not mind. However, they do mind on what their playrooms have. They now care and most parents will discover that they have their own tastes in toys.

When they were just babies, little boys and girls were indifferent to the world around them. All they cared about was to eat, sleep and poo. That is their world and they were happy with it. But as humans evolve and grow up, so do their curiosity and interests.

Rattles, squeeze toys and toy gyms might have brought in a giggle or two when they were in their infant diapers at a toddler age of one or two, but interest for these objects do fade. Mom and dad would need to go back to the store and get a new set of playthings that their little girl or their little boy at home would enjoy spending his recreational time with. So what toys are most appropriate for one to two year old toddlers? Here are two of the favorites.

* Building blocks. One to two years of age are the formative years of an individual. At this time, the child's thinking abilities are expanding and knowledge is building up. Building blocks can help develop your child's handiness and knack for building and organizing things. He or she might surprise you when she is able to make a well built pillar or fence. This could give mom and dad an insight if their child has the skill and is meant to grow up as a good engineer or architect someday. Building blocks with the alphabet on them can also guide children into getting more familiar with the letters of the alphabet more easily. They can soon arrange the ABC in good order.

* Make believe toys. While blocks can stimulate their minds, these toys can fuel their imaginations. Get a dinner set for girls and a tool set for boys. Little girls at this age can now start hosting dinner parties for her playmates and dolls. This makes for good practice especially since you would want her to help with the household chores someday, the cooking and washing of dishes. Just like daddy with his hammer, his screws and tools to fix the house with, little boy toddler would enjoy his time with his. A note to parents though is to make sure the toys are soft and big enough not to be swallowed. Some children at this age may still have the tendency to place toys in their mouths.
