Letting Kids Play With Dolls
When choosing for a toy to give a little girl, most mothers and gift givers go to the aisle where numerous dolls are displayed. This is the reality and it would definitely be a surprise if it were the other way around.
From long ago, little girls have always been fond of playing with dolls. There is something about this relationship that have grown and continued to live its legacy all through the years. Parents are also discovering a great deal about the benefits of allowing children to play with dolls. What are these advantages? Here are a few.
* Dolls are good companions.
For an only child, a doll is the ultimate playing companion. It cannot be avoided that parents may be busy with other activities to attend to their children all the time. When dad is away working hard in his office and mom is busy doing the household chores, the child is often left to play on her own in her room or in her play area with no one to accompany her but her trusted and loyal doll.
Oftentimes, when children feel lonely and alone, they often turn to their dolls to give them a hug of comfort. However, be it known that there is no comparison to the security and love of parents, it is just fortunate that there are dolls also there to keep our children company.
* Children often treat their dolls as friends and so at an early stage they can develop their relationship and personal skills.
When you look at a little girl playing with her doll, you will often find that she is reliving the experiences or scenes that she has seen from her parents and the persons that she has become familiar with. Typically, girls play the role of mother to their dolls; feeding the doll, brushing her hair and even singing her to sleep.
Such a delightful thing to see and mom would be more delighted to know that these activities help her child to become responsible and kind as she is showing thoughtfulness and concern for another at an early age. This stage of playing and learning develops a child's personality and her ability to relate to others which will come in handy once she starts to play with other kids in her neighborhood or the children at pre-school.
* Role playing with dolls give mom and dads the first peak on what interests their little bundle of joy. It is not uncommon that little girls who used to play classroom, reading stories and teaching lessons to an all too attentive but quiet doll as a student will grow up to be good professors and educators when they grow up.
A child's inclination to become a medical professional is often manifested when he plays roles of taking care and nurturing a doll which is pretending to be sick and ill. With these signs, parents can be able to recognize their little girl's potential and perhaps, prepare the way for their children to achieve and even excel in their future professions.
